Chippewa Wrestlers Welcome Michigan For Home Opener

Sunday's dual begins at 2 p.m.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan wrestling team will entertain Michigan in a nonconference dual on Sunday (2 p.m.) at McGuirk Arena.
It is the first dual of the season for the Chippewas, who competed last weekend in the Michigan State Open. It is also the first dual for the Wolverines, who also competed at the MSU Open.
THE LINEUPS
CMU will feature a very young lineup that includes eight underclassemen. Among the more-experienced Chippewas scheduled to wrestle on Sunday are senior Jordan Atienza (184 pounds) and junior Logan Parks (157), along with sophomores Matt Stencel (285), Drew Hildebrandt (125) and Dresden Simon (149).
Stencel is ranked 16th nationally in his weight class by InterMat.
Michigan's potential lineup includes seven returning starters, including including two-time All-Americans Stevan Micic (133), Alec Pantaleo (157) and Myles Amine (174), and 2017 All-American Logan Massa (165).
Six U-M wrestlers who could take the mat on Sunday are ranked: Drew Mattin (125), 13th; Micic, second; Pantaleo, fourth; Massa, fifth; Myles Amine, third; and Striggow, 16th.
THE WOLVERINES
Michigan, which placed fifth last March in the NCAA Championships, is ranked fifth in the National Wrestling Coaches Association/USA Today poll.

Sunday's dual is the only chance for CMU fans to see the Chippewas until Dec. 21, when they host Northern Illinois in a Mid-American Conference dual.
The Chippewas are scheduled to compete in the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
