CMU Field Hockey Puts 13 On Academic Honor Squad

Chippewas Leah Umberger and Georgina Minta honored for third time
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Thirteen Central Michigan student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Team.
The 13 Chippewas, listed with their year and grade point average: Sarah Mesko, junior, 3.98; Leah Umberger, senior, 3.93; Lily Amadio, graduate student, 3.90; Georgina Minta, junior, 3.90; Alli Huddleson, sophomore, 3.85; Kayla McClure, senior, 3.85; Anna Riesenberg, sophomore, 3.79; Cara Satre, sophomore, 3.75; Taryn Damm, sophomore, 3.74; Anna Forry, senior, 3.40; Samantha Glapinski, iunior, 3.34; Callie Quinn, sophomore, 3.22; Kady Gurtis, senior, 3.21.
It marks the third time in their respective careers that Umberger and Minta have earned Academic All-MAC honors, while Amadio, Forry, McClure and Gurtis was were so honored for the second time.
To earn the honor, a student-athlete must have a 3.2 GPA and have played in 50 percent of her team's games.
The Chippewas' 13 honorees is the second-most among the MAC's seven teams. Only Miami (Ohio), with 14, placed more student-athletes on the squad than did CMU.
