Chippewa senior transfer earns MAC honor
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. β Central Michigan's Janelle Perry was named the Mid-American Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week.

Perry, a senior from Akron, Ohio, posted a win and a third-place finish on Friday as CMU opened the indoor track and field season at the Grand Valley State Holiday Meet at the Lakers' Kelly Family Sports Center.

A transfer from Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio, Perry made the most of her first meet in a Chippewa uniform as she won the long jump at 19 feet, 11 inches, tying the Kelly Family Sports Center and coming within three-fourths of an inch of Tamera Thomas' program record 19-11 ΒΎ, set in 2005.

Perry also ran a leg on the Chippewas' 4x400 relay squad, which placed third in 3:50.22. Simonae Dismuke, Nadia Williams and Samantha Cuneo joined Perry in the relay.

The Chippewas return to action on Friday, Jan. 11 with their annual Jack Skoog Open at the Jack Skoog Indoor Track.
