
CMU Lacrosse Drops Season Opener

MILWAUKEE - Tyra Prince tallied three goals for the Central Michigan women's lacrosse team as it fell to Marquette, 19-7, in its season-opener on Friday at the Golden Eagles' Valley Fields.
The Chippewas (0-1) are scheduled to go to American on Friday, Feb. 23 (3 p.m.). The Eagles open their season on Saturday against Richmond.
CMU had a one-goal advantage midway through the first half when Shannon Doyle scored on a free position shot, giving the Chippewas a 4-3 lead. Marquette responded with five consecutive goals, and Central Michigan never regained the lead.
Dominque Hamman started in goal for the Chippewas, making six saves. Hope Murray took over just over halfway through, saving seven.
Grace Gabriel led the Golden Eagles with six goals on nine shots. Jules Horning made three saves in the cage for Marquette.
Doyle and Emma Hamilton each had two goals for CMU. Prince finished with two assists and Jocelyne Lemay added one. Hamilton led the Chippewas in shots with four.
