
Late Rally Gives UM Win Over Chippewas

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Michigan did all of its scoring in the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday in topping Central Michigan, 5-0, in a nonconference softball game at the Wolverine's Alumni Field.
CMU (9-12) goes to Ohio for its Mid-American Conference-opening series this weekend. The Chippewas and Bobcats open the series with a single game on Friday (4 p.m.). The Bobcats are 11-12.
IN THE CIRCLE
Losing pitcher Taylor Weaver (0-4) allowed one run on four hits over five innings. She struck out two. Laura Vaccaro and Hannah Warren pitched in relief.
Winning pitcher Tera Blanco (6-1) struck out four.
AT THE PLATE
Morgan Gardner doubled for Central Michigan while Sara Hansen and Lacy Tolfree each added a single.
Faith Canfield, Natalie Peters and Haley Hoogenraad had two hits apiece to lead the Wolverines (23-6).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Michigan exploded for five runs on eight hits in the sixth inning. Blanco started the scoring with an RBI double. Madison Uden followed with a two-run double.
