Chippewas Fall To Seton Hall

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Seton Hall collected 10 hits off five Central Michigan pitchers on Tuesday as the Pirates handed the Chippewas a 10-4 loss at Osceola County Stadium.
CMU (2-9-1) continues its Spring Break trip with a game on Wednesday (1 p.m.) against Virginia Tech (5-7) in DeLand. Seton Hall is 5-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pirates scored two runs in the first and three in the third in building a 5-1 lead. All three runs in the third were unearned. They added four insurance runs in the seventh.
AT THE PLATE
CMU finished with six hits, including a double by Daniel Robinson. Jacob Crum, Chase Rollin, Zavier Warren, David Cole and Zach Heeke each singled.
The Chippewas used two walks, a bunt and an RBI grounder by Jason Sullivan to score a run in the third inning. A Crum groundout brought home another CMU run in the sixth, and the Chippewas added two in the seventh - cutting their deficit to 6-4 - on a bases-loaded single by Rollin and a groundout.
ON THE MOUND
Sophomore Zach Kohn started for CMU and took the loss. He allowed five runs (two earned) on four hits, walked seven and struck out five over 2 2/3 inning.
Jack Collins, Cameron Brown, Braxton Markle and Cameron Brown pitched in relief.
NOTES
• Heeke was hit by a pitch for the seventh time this season. He entered the game tied for 11th in the nation in that category.
• The five Chippewa pitchers combined to record 12 strikeouts.
• Junior right-hander Dazon Cole, who is 0-2 with a 5.19 earned run average, is scheduled to start for CMU on Wednesday against Virginia Tech. The Hokies have yet to name a starter.
