SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan softball team will take on Mid-American Conference foe Eastern Michigan in a three-game series which begins with a doubleheader on Friday (3 p.m.) in Ypsilanti at the Eagles' Varsity Field.
The series is scheduled to conclude on Sunday with a single game at a site and start time to be determined.
The weather forecast has necessitate the change. The series was originially scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Mount Pleasant.
RECORDS
CMU is 18-16, 8-4 MAC after splitting its doubleheader with Western Michigan at home on Wednesday. The Chippewas won the conference series against the Broncos, 2-1. CMU had won nine straight before falling in Wednesday's night cap.
The Eagles (7-29, 3-9 MAC) split a home MAC doubleheader with Toledo on Wednesday.
WARMING UP
Since dropping all three games in their MAC-opening series at Ohio, the Chippewas are 8-1 in league games.
WHERE THEY STAND
Central Michigan is third in the MAC West while Eastern Michigan stands in sixth place.
As a team, the Chippewas are hitting a MAC-best .310, and their pitching staff ranks third in the league with a 2.98 earned run average. CMU is second in the conference defensively with a .964 fielding percentage.
LEADERS
Erika Underwood leads CMU with a .438 hitting average and ranks fourth in the MAC. Underwood leads the team with seven home runs.
Lacy Tolfree is also among the top 10 hitters in the league (.392) and leads the MAC with 17 stolen bases.
CMU pitcher Hanna Warren (6-5) carries a 2.51 ERA and has recorded 52 strikeouts.
SCOUTING
Amanda Akles leads Eastern Michigan with a .356 batting average. Eastern ranks last in the 12-team lead in hitting (.227), is ninth in ERA (4.89) and last in fielding percentage (.931).
NEXT
CMU will travel to Ball State for a three-game MAC series which begins on April 20. The Cardinals, who swept a doubleheader at Northern Illinois on Wednesday, are 26-12, 8-3 MAC. They play host to Western Michigan in a three-game series this weekend.
