
Softball Hits The Road For Ball State

SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan softball team is scheduled for a Mid-American Conference series against Ball State this weekend at the Cardinals' First Merchants Ballpark Complex.
The series will open with a single game on Friday (3 p.m.) and a conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday (1 p.m.).
RECORDS
CMU is 18-18, 8-6 MAC after dropping two games on the road against Eastern Michigan last weekend. The final game of the series, which was scheduled to be at Margo Jonker Stadium, was cancelled due to weather.
Ball State is 27-15, 9-5. The Cardinals dropped a 9-3 nonconference decision against Butler on Wednesday.
WHERE THEY STAND
Central Michigan is fourth in the MAC West while Ball State is second.
CMU is hitting .298, ranking third in the conference. The Chippewa pitching staff carries a 3.04 earned run average, placing them third in the league. Defensively, the Chippewas are second in the MAC with a .962 fielding percentage.
LEADERS
Erika Underwood leads Central Michigan and ranks fourth in the conference with a .406 batting average. She also leads the team with seven home runs.
CMU's Lacy Tolfree leads the MAC with 17 stolen bases and is among the top 15 hitters in the league (.362).
CMU's Rachel Vieira has tallied four triples, ranking her third in the conference.
CMU pitcher Hanna Warren (6-6) ranks among the top 10 pitchers in the MAC with a 2.58 ERA. She has also recorded 52 strikeouts.
SCOUTING
Ball State's Alyssa Rothwell leads the conference in pitching (2.06 ERA).
Haley Dominque has a .393 batting average to lead the Cardinals. She leads the MAC in runs (40) and hits (53).

Central Michigan is scheduled for a nonconference matchup on the road at Michigan State (16-21) on April 25.
