
Softball Takes On Toledo In Final Home Series

SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan softball team will play host to Toledo this weekend in a three-game Mid-American Conference series at Margo Jonker Stadium.
Schedule: Friday, 3 p.m.; Saturday, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
It is the Chippewas' final home series of the season. They will celebrate Parents Day prior to Friday's game, and Senior Day before game one on Saturday.
WHERE THEY STAND
CMU, which dropped an 8-1 nonleaguer on Wednesday at Michigan State, is 19-21, 9-8 MAC. The Chippewas are fourth in the MAC West. Toledo is 30-15 and leads the West at 14-3, three games ahead of second-place Ball State.
The top eight teams in the conference earn a berth in the MAC Tournament.
The Chippewas have lost three straight games. Toledo has won five of its last six starts.
CMU NOTES
Freshman Shaidan Knapp leads the Chippewas with a .390 batting average, and is one of four CMU starters hitting .299 or better. The others are Erika Underwood (.387), Lacy Tolfree (.357) and Maison Kalina (.299).
Tolfree leads the MAC with 19 stolen bases (on 19 attempts).
Hanna Warren leads the CMU pitchers with a 2.36 earned run average, which ranks sixth in the MAC.
The Chippewas are hitting .292 as a team and enter the series with a 2.90 team ERA. They rank third in the conference in both categories.
SCOUTING
Toledo is tied with East-leading Ohio for the best overall win percentage among MAC teams at .667.
The Rockets lead the MAC with a 2.57 team ERA and are eighth in hitting (.265).
Toledo pitcher Webb is third in the conferencw with a 2.21 ERA, while Minarchick (2.47) ranks seventh.
The Rockets' Curry is second in the conference in home runs (13), and ranks third in both hits (54) and RBI (42).

The Chippewas are scheduled to close the regular season with a three-game MAC series next weekend at Northern Illinois.
