
Track & Field Student-Athletes Post 25 Top-8 Finishes

Nadia Williams and Gabrielle Beauvais each placed first to highlight the performances of Central Michigan track & field student-athletes who competed in three meets over the weekend.
Williams won the women's long jump and Beauvais was first in the women's 400-meter dash to lead the Chippewas at the Louisville Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational.
All told, CMU student-athletes posted a combined 25 top-eight finishes at Louisville, the Ashland (Ohio) University Alumni Open, and the Hillsdale GINA Relays at Hillsdale College.
Williams won the women's long jump at Louisville with a leap of 6.10 meters. The sophomore from Mount Horeb, Wis., also turned in a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash (24.15 seconds).
Beauvais, a sophomore from Monona, Wis., won the women's 400 in 53.80 and ran a leg on two relay teams, the 4x100 and the 4x400.
Simonae Dismuke, Kyla Walton and Aisha Jackson teamed with Beauvais to place third in the 4x400 in 3:50.29. Beauvais, Williams, Dismuke and Ja'La Taylor combined to finished sixth in 46.47 in the 4x100 relay.
Two Chippewa jumpers, Emily Helfrich (high jump) and Rebekah Petty (pole vault), tied for second in their respective events. Petty cleared 3.87 meters; Helfrich 1.60.
Also for the CMU women, Walton was fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:01.71), Taylor was sixth in the high jump, Dismuke placed seventh in the 400, and Mikaela Grant was eighth in the long jump.
Shane Moffo led the CMU with a second-place finish in the 110 hurdles (14.12), while teammate Jack Dodge turned in a third-place finish in the 200 (21.06) and a fifth-place finish in the 100 (10.56).
Also for the Chippewas, Ja'Corey Lipsey was fourth in the 400 hurdles (54.30), Roshawn Morton was sixth in the 400 (48.62), Lorenzo Wells (100) and Ali Taha (long jump) turned in seventh-place finishes, and Aaron Taylor (110 hurdles) and Wells (100) posted eighth-place finishes.
Ashland Alumni Open
Erin Howard finished second in the women's discus with a throw of 171-11 as the CMU throwers recorded five top-five finishes at the Ashland Alumni Open.
CMU's Marissa Dunn, Ahmed Joseph and Kevin Weiler each placed fourth, while Connor Covert turned in a fifth-place finish.
Dunn was fourth in the women's hammer throw (186-1), Joseph was fourth in the men's javelin (175-1), and Weiler was fourth in the men's shot put (57-2 ¼). Covert placed fifth in the men's discus (154-0).
Hillsdale GINA Relays
Kenneth Goolsby placed third in the steeplechase to lead the CMU contingent of distant runners at the Hillsdale GINA Relays.
Goolsby, a redshirt freshman from Northville, finished the race in 10:05.90.
Also for the Chippewas, Emmett Smrcka finished fifth in the men's 800 (1:54.77); Natalie Beaulieu was seventh in the women's 10,000 (38:34.37); and Anna Flanders, Morgan Merlino, Katie Kasper and Paula Merino combined to finish seventh (10:13.4) in the women's 4x800 relay.
