
Chippewas Welcome Buffalo For Weekend Series

SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan softball team is scheduled to play host to Buffalo in a Mid-American Conference series at Margo Jonker Stadium this weekend. The Chippewas will open with a doubleheader on Saturday (1 p.m.) and conclude the series with a single game on Sunday (noon).
RECORDS
CMU is 14-15, 4-3 MAC and is riding a win streak that reached five games on Tuesday with a 5-2 league victory at Western Michigan. The Chippewas swept Miami (Ohio) in a three-game series last weekend at home. Buffalo (13-17, 5-3) swept a MAC doubleheader on Tuesday at Akron.
WHERE THEY STAND
Central Michigan is tied with Western Michigan for fourth in the MAC West. Buffalo is second in the East.
The Chippewas rank fifth in the league with a .297 batting average and are third with a 3.03 earned run average. The Bulls are ninth in hitting (.249).
LEADERS
Erika Underwood leads CMU with a .434 batting average and ranks third in the conference. The junior has also tallied six home runs and 20 RBI. Lacy Tolfree is sixth in the MAC, hitting .398, and also leads the conference with 14 stolen bases.
Laura Vaccaro (3-2) ranks among the MAC's top 10 pitchers with a 2.53 ERA. Hanna Warren (4-5) carries a 2.82 ERA for the Chippewas.
Buffalo's Jessica Goldyn ranks seventh in the league with a .373 batting average.

Central Michigan will play host to Western Michigan in a MAC doubleheader on Wednesday (1 p.m.). The games will conclude the three-game season series between CMU and the Broncos.
