
Two Chippewas Earn All-MAC Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Two Central Michigan players were named to the All-Mid-American Conference baseball team, released by the league on Tuesday.
CMU's Griffin Lockwood-Powell was named to the first team as a designated hitter, and pitcher Pat Leatherman was named to the second team for the second consecutive year.
Lockwood-Powell, a redshirt freshman, leads CMU with 38 RBI and is second on the team with a .322 batting average and four home runs. He also leads the Chippewas with a .452 slugging percentage.
Lockwood-Powell, who hails from Sioux Falls, S.D., is one of three freshmen on the 15-member all-league first team. The others are pitchers Collin Romel of Kent State and Drey Jameson of Ball State.
Leatherman, a junior from Jenison, is one of four starting pitchers named to the all-conference second team. The right-hander is 2-5 with a 3.51 earned run average. His ERA is ninth best in the league. In 59 innings, he has allowed 23 earned runs, 45 hits, walked 17 and struck out 77. Opponents are hitting .210 against him.
The Chippewas are in Avon, Ohio for the MAC Tournament. They are seeded fourth in the six-team tourney and open on Wednesday (6 p.m.) against fifth-seeded Toledo.
