
Chippewas To Open MAC Softball Tournament Against Toledo

AKRON, Ohio -- The Central Michigan softball team will open the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Wednesday, May 9, against Toledo at Firestone Stadium.
The Chippewas, who finished the regular season 12-11 in MAC play, earned the sixth seed. Toledo, which went 16-7 in conference play and shared the MAC West crown with Ball State, is the No. 3 seed.
CMU took two of three from the Rockets last weekend in Mount Pleasant. The Chippewas are 22-24 overall, while Toledo is 32-19.
Ohio, which won the East and the overall regular-season crown with a 20-3 league mark, earned the No. 1 seed. The Bobcats open on Wednesday at 1 p.m. against eighth-seeded Miami (Ohio).
In other tournament games on Wednesday, No. 4-seeded Kent State takes on No. 5 seed Western Michigan at 10:30 a.m., and No. 2 seed Ball State will face seventh-seeded Northern Illinois at 3:30 p.m.
The CMU-Toledo winner will play the Ball State-Northern Illinois winner on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The two losers will meet in an elimination game at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
