
Three Chippewas Earn All-MAC Softball

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Three Central Michigan softball players have earned All-Mid-American Conference honors.
The all-conference teams were released today, Tuesday, one day before the MAC Tournament begins in Akron, Ohio. The all-league teams are voted upon by league coaches.
CMU's Maison Kalina and Erika Underwood were named First Team All-MAC and teammate Shaidan Knapp was named to the MAC All-Freshman Team.
Kalina, a senior catcher from Midland, was named All-MAC for the third consecutive year and to the all-conference first team for the second straight year.
Kalina ranks fourth on the team among the regulars with a .304 batting average and she leads the Chippewas with 28 RBI.
Underwood, a first baseman who hails from Pittsford, leads CMU with eight home runs and 12 doubles, and she tops the team in slugging percentage (.672) and ranks first among the regulars with a .490 on-base percentage and second with a .384 batting average.
Knapp, the Chippewas' designated player who hails from Vicksburg, is third among Chippewa regulars with a .340 batting average and she is tied for second on the team with three home runs and 18 runs scored. She ranks third in both on-base percentage (.423) and slugging percentage (.515).
The Chippewas open the MAC Tournament on Wednesday (6 p.m.) against Toledo.
