CMU Football Team to Play Missouri in 2021

A game at Missouri on Sept. 4, 2021 means the Central Michigan football team will play two Southeastern Conference teams in a three-week span.
The CMU at Missouri game was finalized recently, and it continues a trend of high-profile non-conference games on the Chippewas' future schedules. The LSU game on Sept. 25, 2021 was announced in September, and earlier this month a CMU at Alabama game in 2023 was announced.
"We've never played Missouri," Associate Vice President and CMU Director of Athletics Michael Alford said. "And we've never played LSU or Alabama. CMU alums are spread across the nation, and for many of them, this will be the first time they've been able to get to a CMU football game in a long time."
Missouri finished 7-6 overall in 2017 and tied for third in the SEC East and earned a berth in the Texas Bowl.
"I said it last week, and I'll say it again: We welcome the challenge to measure ourselves against the best," CMU football coach John Bonamego said. "I've seen firsthand the passion SEC fans have for football, and it should be a great trip for our players and fans."
The Chippewas are coming off an 8-5 season, and they beat a Big 12 opponent for the second consecutive season, downing Kansas, 45-27. The Chippewas averaged 41.2 points in their last five games and beat their two in-state MAC rivals, Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan. The Chippewas also led the nation in turnovers gained with 31 and tied for second in interceptions with 19.
CMU opens the season Sept. 1 at Kentucky, and its six-game home schedule starts Sept. 8 against Kansas. All six of CMU's home games are on Saturdays. Season tickets are on sale and packages start at $60. Single-game tickets also are available and range in price from $12 to $23. Group rates for single games range from $10 to $12. For more information, call Ticket Central at 989-774-3045 or stop by the office in the John G. Kulhavi Events Center.
New this week are Maroon and Gold mini ticket plans. Each plan features three CMU football home games. The Maroon plan includes Kansas, Buffalo (homecoming) and Ball State. The Gold plan includes Maine, Western Michigan and Bowling Green. Each plan costs $30 per seat (plus a delivery fee). Fans can add a parking pass for just $30, an $18 savings.
The Central Michigan at Northwestern game scheduled for the 2020 season will be played Sept. 19, 2020, rather than its original Sept. 12 date. And the CMU at Nebraska game that same season moves from Sept. 19 to Sept. 12.
