Three years as a varsity program, three years as an academic honor squad for CMU

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- The Central Michigan lacrosse team was named a Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for the 2017-18 academic year by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.

The honor goes to teams that have posted a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average.

In addition, five Chippewas were named to the IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the honor roll, a student-athlete must be an upperclassman and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better.

The five Chippewas so honored are senior Amber Crouse and juniors Holly Billett, Natalie Bloniarz, Katie Sharp and Sydney Wright.

It marks the third consecutive year that the Chippewas have been named an academic honor squad, and it is the second straight year that Crouse was named to the honor roll.
