HAMILTON, N.Y. – After 70 minutes of scoreless action, the Central Michigan field hockey team dropped a 1-0 overtime decision to Colgate on Friday in the Chippewas' season opener and the debut of coach Catherine Ostoich.
The Chippewas (0-1) will face Saint Louis on Sunday (11 a.m.) in Hamilton to conclude their season-opening weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Olivia Krogermeier scored just over three minutes into overtime to lift the Raiders, who were also playing their season opener.
STRONG IN GOAL
Lily Amadio stopped nine shots for the Chippewas. Anna Unger finished with a five-save shutout for Colgate.
SHOTS
Cara Satre led CMU with four shots. Colgate outshot the Chippewas, 18-9.
COACH OSTOICH
"I can honestly say that every girl gave it their absolute all, the passion and pride they stepped out with on that field was incredible. While we didn't get the outcome we wanted, we had a couple of opportunities that we needed to take advantage of. At the end of the day they really played their hearts out.
"We're taking this feeling and making sure it doesn't happen in two days. On Sunday when we have those opportunities we're going to make sure they go in the back of the cage."
