Chippewa Volleyball Set To Visit Pair Of East's Best

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- The Central Michigan volleyball team will hit the road for a pair of Mid-American Conference games this weekend.

The Chippewas are scheduled to play at Bowling Green on Friday, Oct. 18 (6 p.m.) and then at Miami (Ohio) on Sunday, Oct. 20 (2:30 p.m.).

Where They Stand
CMU sits at 16-2 (6-0 MAC) and extended its win streak to 11 games last weekend with home wins over Ball State and Toledo. CMU overcame a 1-0 set deficit to beat Ball State, and a 2-1 set deficit to top the Rockets.

CMU holds a two-game lead over Ball State in the MAC West.

Scouting
Bowling Green and Miami are among three teams, with Ohio, that are tied for second with a 4-2 league record in the MAC West. Akron (5-1 conference) is in first place.

Bowling Green is 10-8 overall, while Miami is 9-8.

The Falcons lead the MAC with a .223 hitting percentage; Miami ranks second in the league in aces per set (1.52).

Numbers
CMU leads the MAC in kills per set (13.64) and assists per set (12.84).

Individually, CMU's Kalina Smith is second in the MAC in kills per set (3.49); Megan Kern is fourth in digs per set (5.25); and Lizbeth Rosario-Martinez is fourth in hitting percentage (.340).

CMU entertains Akron in a league match on Friday, Oct. 25 (6 p.m.) at McGuirk Arena in what may very well be a showdown of division leaders. It is the first of five consecutive home matches. CMU is scheduled to entertain Buffalo on Saturday, Oct. 26 (5 p.m.).
