Rettelle Leads Women At EMU Fall Classic

DEXTER, Mich. – Sophomore Maija Rettelle placed 37th on Friday to lead the Central Michigan runners in the EMU Fall Classic.
Rettelle finished the 5K race in 19:14.4. The race comprised 77 runners.
Also for the Chippewas, freshman Lauren MacDonald finished 41st in 19:24.8; sophomore Alexa Davis was 57th in in 20:00.3; freshman Haley Hegenauer was 61st in 20:24.2; and freshman Lauren Lasceski placed 67th in 21:00.6.
The race served as an opportunity for some of the Chippewas' younger runners to gain race experience, according to Jenny Swieton, CMU director of track & field/cross country.
Runners representing the likes of host Eastern Michigan, Michigan, Michigan State, Toledo and Bowling Green also participated in the event. No team scores were kept.
The Chippewas go to the Mid-American Conference Championships, hosted by Northern Illinois, in DeKalb, Ill. on Saturday, Nov. 2 (11 a.m.).
