Bussell Earns Weekly MAC Honor

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan's Kyra Bussell was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for women's basketball.
Bussell, a junior from Grand Rapids, scored a career-high 29 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and made three blocks in the Chippewas' 111-105 double-overtime nonconference loss to Green Bay in their season-opening game.
Bussell made 12 of her 15 field goal attempts including three of four from 3-point range. The game featured the No. 12-ranked (CMU) and the No. 18-ranked teams in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll.
The Chippewas are scheduled to play a nonconference game at Louisville on Thursday (6 p.m.). The Cardinals are 2-0 and ranked ninth nationally by the Associated Press.
