Four National Qualifiers on the schedule for the Chippewas.
MOUNT PLEASANT, MICH. – A challenging schedule against some of the top teams in the country awaits the Central Michigan gymnastics team in 2020.
Â
The Chippewas travel to four teams that qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships last year – Ohio State (Jan. 25), Southern Utah (Feb. 7), Illinois (March 1) and New Hampshire (March 8).
Â
"This will definitely be one of most challenging schedules in years, but I think this group is up to the challenge and it will definitely prepare us for the postseason," coach Christine MacDonald said. "Having a roster with eight freshmen, we wanted to give them the opportunity to learn how to compete and win on the road."
Â
CMU, the reigning Mid-American Conference regular season champions, opens the season with the Maroon & Gold Intrasquad on Sunday, Jan. 5. Its first regular-season meet is at Michigan State on Saturday, Jan. 11.
Â
Central Michigan opens MAC action at Eastern Michigan on Jan. 19. CMU's other conference road meets are at Northern Illinois (Feb. 2) and at Bowling Green (Feb. 21).
Â
The Chippewas' first home meet is against rival Kent State on Feb. 21. They also host Western Michigan (Feb. 28) and Ball State (March 15).
Â
The MAC Championships are Saturday, March 21, in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Â
The NCAA Regional Championships are scheduled for April 4.
