Women look to complete championship double
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Central Michigan track & field team is headed to Muncie, Ind. for its most-important competition of the year, the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships.
Â
The three-day meet is scheduled to begin on Thursday at Ball State's University Track.
Â
The Chippewa women are looking to complete the double, winning the team title after claiming the crown at the MAC Indoor Championships in February. It was the first indoor crown for the Chippewa women since 2004; their last outdoor MAC title also came in 2004.
Â
"I think we're in a really good place going into the MAC meet," Chippewa director of track & field Jenny Swieton said. "We have the ability to score in all of the event areas, which will be helpful.
Â
"When we were entering (the season), we were pretty strategic with not trying to get too much out of any one person, so the things they can do, they can do really well. I think we have a lot of athletes that can be potential MAC champions on both the men's and women's side. We just want to continue to get better every day, and do what we can to make that happen."
