Volleyball Heads To New York For Opener

Chippewas open at home with invitational next weekend
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- The Central Michigan volleyball team will travel to Brooklyn, N.Y. this weekend to compete in its first tournament of the season, the Terrier Classic, hosted by St. Francis Brooklyn.
CMU is coming off an 3-0 exhibition win against Ferris State last Saturday.
THE TEAMS
CMU will open against Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday (12:30 p.m.). Maryland Eastern Shore finished 10-16 last season. CMU defeated the Hawks in four sets in the UIC Invitational last season.
The Chippewas' second game is on Saturday, Aug. 31 (9 a.m.) against Saint Peter's. Saint Peter's opens the tournament against Maryland Eastern Shore before its game against CMU. Saint Peter's went 9-25 last season.
CMU's third and final tournament game is on Saturday (4:30 p.m.) against New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). NJIT finished 4-28 last season.
CMU does not play against the tournament host St. Francis Brooklyn. Saint Francis Brooklyn went 10-18 last season.

CMU will host the Chippewa Invitational next weekend at McGuirk Arena. The Chippewas will play a doubleheader on Friday, Sept. 6 against Eastern Illinois (12:30 p.m.), and against North Dakota State (7 p.m.). They will also play against UIC on Saturday, Sept. 7 (3:30 p.m.).
