Stencel 5th, Hildebrandt 6th In NCAA Championships Seedings

Chippewas sending six to Minnesota
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Matt Stencel is seeded fifth and Drew Hildebrandt is sixth for the NCAA Wrestling Championships next weekend at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
Stencel (285 pounds) and Hildebrandt (125) are among six Chippewas who will partake in the championships, which comprises 33 wrestlers in each of 10 weight classes. The tournament runs from Thursday-Saturday, March 19-21.
CMU's Dresden Simon is seeded 12th at 141, Andrew Marten is 31st at 133, Logan Parks is 21st at 157, Landon Pelham is 28th at 197. Parks is the lone senior of the CMU contingent headed to Minnesota; the other five are juniors.
Stencel will be making his third appearance in the NCAA Championships. He placed seventh last season, earning All-America honors. Hildebrandt and Parks are returning to the nationals for the second-consecutive year.
Stencel, who is 30-4 on the season, is set to open the tournament against 28th-seeded Brendan Furman of Cornell. The winner will face either 21st-seeded David Jensen of Nebraska or Josh Hokit of Fresno State, the 12th seed.
Hildebrandt (31-3) is set to open against Malik Heinselman of Ohio State, the 27th seed. The winner will face either 11th-seeded Michael Colaiocco of Penn or Liam Cronin of Indiana, the 22nd seed.
Simon (29-8) is scheduled to open against Cody Trybus of Navy, the 21st seed. The winner will face fifth-seeded Dom Demas of Oklahoma or Matt Kazimir of Columbia, the 28th seed.
Marten (21-13) is slated to open against No. 2-seeded Seth Gross of Wisconsin. The winner will take on Mosha Schwartz of Northern Colorado, the 15th seed, or Nick Farro of Lehigh, the 18th seed.
Parks (22-12) is scheduled to face Markus Hartman of Army, the 12th seed, in his opening bout. The winner will face 28th-seeded BC LaPrade of Virginia Tech or fifth-seeded Quincy Monday of Princeton.
Pelham (21-12) is slated to take on fifth-seeded Jacob Warner of Iowa in his opening match. The winner will face either Shakur Rasheed of Penn State, the 21st seed, or Nathan Traxler of Stanford, the 12th seed.
