Chippewas return home on Sunday to play Stetson
MILWAUKEE -- The Central Michigan women's lacrosse team could not overcome a slow start on Wednesday as the Chippewas dropped a 19-9 decision to Marquette in a nonconference game at the Golden Eagles' Valley Fields.
Â
CMU (1-3) will return home on Sunday, March 8 (noon) for a nonleague game against Stetson.
Â
How It Happened
Tyra Prince scored just over a minute into the game to put the Chippewas up, 1-0, but then Marquette went on an 8-1 run from which CMU never recovered.
Â
The Golden Eagles led, 12-4, at halftime and the Chippewas never got closer than seven goals in the second half. Marquette finished with a 33-25 advantage in shots.
Â
"We were well prepared but didn't execute," CMU coach Sara Tisdale said. "Defensively, we played uncharacteristically and offensively we forced too many shots. We need to trust our product."
Â
Leaders
Natalie Karlen led the Chippewas with three goals and two assists for five points. Jessica Schuchardt and Prince added two goals apiece.

Sierra Savage and Hope Murray split time in goal for CMU. Savage had one save, while Murray posted five.
