MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.- After a two-game road trip, the Central Michigan women's lacrosse team is back at the CMU Soccer-Lacrosse Complex for a nonconference game against Stetson on Sunday, March 8 (noon).
Â
Last Time Out
CMU is off to a 1-3 start after dropping its second straight game to Marquette 19-9 on Wednesday. That followed a 15-14 loss at Cincinnati three days prior.
Â
"I would say we're more focused on our style of play and what we saw coming out of Cincinnati," CMU coach Sara Tisdale said. "Could have been a win … I'm confident with what we did at Cincinnati, and it's a product we will want to take into Southern Conference play."
Â
Leaders
Natalie Karlen leads CMU in points (20), goals (11) and assists (nine). Behind Karlen is Jessica Schuchardt with 12 points (six goals, six assists).
Â
In Goal
Freshman Sierra Savage and senior Hope Murray have split time, almost equally, this season in goal for CMU. Savage, who has logged more than 124 minutes, has 15 saves, a save percentage of .294, and a goals against average of 17.31.
Â
Murray has played more than 112 minutes, saving 16, and has a save percentage of .410 and a goals against average of 12.24.
Â
Scouting
Stetson is 1-3 after a 16-14 loss at Cincinnati on Friday. The Hatters' win came in their season opener, an 18-15 victory over Oregon.
Â
Marina Rotella leads the Hatters with 14 goals and 19 points. Goalie Kiera McCarthy has played all 240 minutes of the Hatters' games in goal, notching 42 saves. She carried a goals against average of 17.5.
Â
"Stetson is athletic, well coached," Tisdale said. "Their coach Christy Leach was one of best players (at Northwestern) when they were winning their national championships. We expect them to be well prepared.
Â
"Most importantly though, regardless of the opponent, it has to be about us, and that's our focus. I don't care who is on our Sunday schedule, we have to play characteristically our style of play, of what our strengths are, and (we need) to work on our weaknesses very quickly and adjust. It could be Stetson, it could be (a SoCon opponent); it doesn't matter who that opponent is if we don't focus in on us."
Â
Next
CMU will be on the road next week for two games, the first of which is Friday, March 13 (3 p.m.) at Kent State. CMU is scheduled to play at Akron on Sunday, March. 15 (1 p.m.).
