Griffin Named Associate AD for Student-Athlete Services

Griffin to oversee comprehensive academic services area for student-athletes
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Katie Griffin has joined Central Michigan Athletics as the Associate Athletic Director/Student-Athlete Services.
Griffin will serve as a member of the department's senior leadership team and oversee the comprehensive academic services area for student-athletes, including study table and tutorial programs. In addition to acting as the primary academic advisor for assigned sports, she will also monitor academic progress and eligibility for CMU athletes each semester per NCAA guidelines.
"We are excited to have Katie officially onboard to lead our student-athlete services unit," said Senior Associate AD for Institutional Support Services/SWA Rachel Blunt. "Katie's experience as a former student-athlete coupled with her administrative experiences in leadership roles at other institutions will enable her to make an immediate impact on our student-athletes, coaches, and staff."
Griffin previously held the position of Director of Academic Services at Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, Mo., where she directed the Holcomb Success Center, including the supervision of full-time staff members, graduate assistants, interns, and student workers, and was the academic coordinator for football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, and
gymnastics.
From 2015- 2016, Griffin served as Associate Director for Academic & Student Services at the University of Tulsa.
Griffin started her professional career at Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, Mo., holding graduate assistantship positions in game day management and compliance before working as an academic coordinator and the Director of Student-Athlete Development.
A native of Vernon Hills, Ill., Griffin possesses Bachelor of Marketing and Master of Education degrees, both from Lindenwood. Griffin was a four-year member and three-time captain of the Lions' women's lacrosse team.
Griffin is certified by the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics.
