Chippewa Men Head To Bowling Green

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan men's basketball team returns to the court on Tuesday (6 p.m.) when it goes to Bowling Green for a Mid-American Conference game.
It is the first of back-to-back games with the Falcons. The teams are scheduled to meet in Mount Pleasant on Saturday (4:30 p.m.).
The Chippewas are 5-4, 1-1 MAC and coming off an 87-60 road victory over Eastern Michigan one week ago. Travon Broadway (21 points) and Meikkel Murray (18) led the Chippewas to their largest margin of victory over the Eagles since 1987.
Trending Up
After dropping their first three games of the season, the Chippewas have won five of their last six. The lone loss in that stretch came in the MAC opener at Western Michigan.
Leaders
Broadway leads CMU in scoring at 15.7 points per game and ranks 10th in the MAC in scoring. Two other Chippewas, Caleb Huffman (12.4) and Murray (12.1), average double figures in scoring.
Murray leads the Chippewas in rebounding with 6.7 per game.
The Chippewas are averaging 83.3 points per game, ranking second in the conference in that category; CMU is allowing an average of 72.8 points per game, ranking ninth in the league.
Scouting
The Falcons are 7-2, 3-0 and one of three unbeaten teams in the conference along with Toledo and Akron. Bowling Green, which finished first in the MAC preseason poll, is 23rd in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25. Bowling Green is one of two MAC teams in the poll (Toledo is 17th).
The Falcons' losses have come at Michigan, 96-82, and at Wright State, 85-67. The Wolverines are now 9-0 and ranked 10th; Wright State is 6-1 and ranked 15th in the Mid-Major poll.
Senior guard Justin Turner, a two-time All-MAC First Teamer, leads the Falcons in scoring and ranks second in the league at 21.0 points per game. Daeqwon Plowden, a 6-foot-6 senior, is tied for second in the league in rebounding at 8.8 per game.
