MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Maxim was honored for a second time this season as she was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week today.
Maxim had an outstanding week as CMU took on two of the top teams in the country. Maxim made 15 saves in an overtime 3-2 loss at Miami (Ohio) and made five saves on a loss to No. 1-ranked Iowa, conceding just four goals. The 15 saves against Miami was a career-high and tied for the third-most by a MAC goalkeeper this season.
The St. Louis, Mo., native was also honored by the conference early this year after a shutout victory over No. 23 Kent State, 1-0.
