Nichols Named To Hornung Award Honor Roll

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Lew Nichols III was named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll for his performance in the Chippewas' 39-38 loss to Northern Illinois on Saturday at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
Nichols, a freshman from Detroit, accounted for 252 yards on 30 touches and scored two touchdowns, including on a 66-yard run on the third play of the game.
He finished with 192 yards on the ground, caught six passes for 42 yards, and completed both of his pass attempts for 18 yards.
Nichols, the reigning MAC Freshman of the Year, leads the MAC with 919 yards rushing.
The Hornung Award goes to the most versatile player in college football and is awarded after the season. Players are named to the award's weekly honor roll. Nichols is one of seven so honored this week.
The Chippewas, who are 4-4, 2-2 MAC, return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 3, with a league game at Western Michigan.
