Nichols Earns Weekly MAC Honor

CMU running back third in nation with 1,297 rushing yards
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan running back Lew Nichols III was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Chippewas' 54-30 victory over Kent State.
Nichols, a freshman from Detroit, carried 43 times for 215 yards and four touchdowns, all career highs. He also caught four passes for 33 yards.
Nichols became the first CMU player to run for 200 yards in a game since Thomas Rawls in 2014 against Northern Illinois and he is the first Chippewa to rush for four TDs in a single game since Jonathan Ward accomplished the feat in 2019.
The 43 carries is tied for the fourth most in program history.
Nichols leads the MAC and ranks third nationally with 1,297 rushing yards.
