MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan men's and women's basketball teams and the Chippewa wrestling team will be in action – all on the road -- over a three-day period beginning on Sunday, Dec. 19.
The CMU men's basketball team will play at Detroit Mercy on Sunday (1 p.m.); the women's basketball team goes to Green Bay on Monday, Dec. 20 (8 p.m.); and the CMU wrestling team is scheduled to partake in the Journeyman Collegiate Duals in Florida beginning on Monday.
The Chippewa wrestlers are scheduled to face some of the nation's top individuals and teams at the Journeyman Duals, which are scheduled for Northwest Florida State College in Niceville.
CMU is scheduled to open on Monday at 4 p.m. against No. 17 Lehigh and then will immediately face top-ranked Iowa, the defending national champion.
The Chippewas, who are ranked 26th in the National Wrestling Coaches Association poll, will wrestle their third and final dual of the event on Tuesday, Dec. 21. The start time is TBA.
The remainder of the 12-team field comprises No. 2 Penn State, No. 5 North Carolina State, No. 6 Arizona State, No. 8 Virginia Tech, No 10 Missouri, No. 22 Northern Iowa, Binghamton, Hofstra, and Cornell. The Chippewas' duals will be televised at https://rofkin.com
Sunday's game at Detroit Mercy is the nonconference finale for the CMU men's basketball team, which is 1-9. The Titans are 3-7.
The CMU women's basketball team (2-6) is set to take on a Green Bay team that is coming off a 63-53 victory over Wisconsin, a result that lifted the Phoenix to 5-4.
Both CMU basketball teams open Mid-American Conference play on Wednesday, Dec. 29. The Chippewa women play at Buffalo (1 p.m.) and the men go to Kent State (4:30 p.m.).
