Chippewas play at Toledo on Friday
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan soccer team goes to Toledo on Friday (2 p.m.) for a Mid-American Conference game at the Rockets' Scott Park Soccer Complex.
The Chippewas (1-1) posted a 2-1 overtime home win over Ball State on Sunday. Natalie Belsito scored off a rebound with just 13 seconds remaining in the extra session to lift the Chippewas.
Belsito leads CMU with two goals. Amanda Britain has the Chippewas' other goal.
The Chippewas, who opened the season with a 2-1 loss at Eastern Michigan, have outshot their two opponents, 27-18.
CMU goalkeeper Allison LaPoint, a freshman, has made nine saves and carries a 1.42 goals against average.
The Rockets (0-2) opened the season with a 2-0 loss at Ball State and last weekend fell at home to Northern Illinois, 2-1, in overtime. NIU tied the game, 1-1, with under five minutes to play in regulation and got the game-winning goal 3:09 into the extra session.
The Chippewas are scheduled to play host to Western Michigan on Thursday, March 18 (3 p.m.). The Broncos (2-0) are slated to play at Ball State on Friday.
