Lacrosse Goes To Marquette For Rematch

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Fresh off a program-making victory over Pac-12-member Oregon, the Central Michigan lacrosse team returns to action on Friday (2:30 p.m.) for a nonleague game at Marquette.
The Chippewas (2-1) defeated the Golden Eagles, 11-10, in their season opener on Feb. 21 at home. CMU's lone loss came a week ago at 25th-ranked Vanderbilt, 16-10.
Last Time Out
Tyra Prince's overtime goal gave the Chippewas a dramatic 12-11 victory over the Ducks. It was arguably the highest-profile win in the six-year history of the CMU program.
Awards
CMU's Natalie Karlen was named the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Brianna Hart earned the Co-Defensive Player of the Week Award for their performances against Vanderbilt and Oregon.
Karlen scored a combined eight goals in the two games and leads the Chippewas with 10 goals, three assists and 13 points. Hart had four caused turnovers, seven ground balls, and five draw controls in the two contests. Hart leads CMU in caused turnovers (6) and is second in ground balls (9).
Approaching the Top
Karlen, a senior attacker from Hagerstown, Md., has 174 career points, ranking second in program history. She needs 11 points to pass Jocelyne Lemay and become the program's all-time leader.

The Chippewas scored three-consecutive goals to seize an 11-8 lead and then withstood a late Marquette surge during which the Golden Eagles drew to 11-10 and put the pressure on physical play.
Scouting
The Golden Eagles are 2-2 and have won their last two games, 19-8 at Kent State, and 16-4 at home against Oregon.
Senior Megan Menzuber leads the Golden Eagles in goals (15), assists (7), and points (22).
