Field Hockey Closes Season With 2 At Kent State

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan field hockey team is scheduled to close the 2021 spring season this weekend with a two-game series at Kent State.

The Chippewas and Golden Flashes are scheduled to play at Kent State's Murphy-Mellis Field on Friday, April 23, and Saturday, April 24. Both games are slated to begin at 5 p.m.

CMU is 5-5, 3-4 MAC; Kent State is 9-3, 7-3. The Golden Flashes are second in the MAC with 2.667 goals per game and three Golden Flashes – Katie Wuerstle, Sydney Washburn and Cambra Soler, are among a group tied for fifth in the conference in scoring.

Freshman Kate Biglin leads the Chippewas with four goals, while sophomores Alice O'Hagan and Lauren Buffington have scored three goals apiece. O'Hagan has four assists and 10 points, both team highs.

Chippewa goalie Katie Maxim, a freshman, has made 65 saves and 6.50 saves per game, both league highs.

The Chippewas dropped a 2-1 decision to Longwood on Tuesday in their home finale. Last weekend, the split a pair of MAC games with Ball State.
