Lacrosse Goes To Robert Morris For MAC Showdown
4/23/2021 5:59:00 PM | Lacrosse
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – True, there's a way to go in the Mid-American Conference lacrosse race.
That said, Saturday's Central Michigan-Robert Morris game will carry an awful lot of weight in determining which team eventually claims the league title. First draw is set for noon at Robert Morris' Joe Walton Stadium.
The Chippewas are 6-5, 4-1 MAC; RMU is 10-2, 6-0, and defeated the Chippewas, 12-7, in Mount Pleasant on March 27. Saturday's game marks the beginning of the second half of the league season for CMU and a loss would leave the Chippewas two games behind the first-place Colonials in the MAC standings.
"We need to go out and play our game," CMU coach Sara Tisdale said. "We've seen all season long that when play at our best we're capable of beating top-20 opponents. For us, it's not about the opponent as much as it is about trusting our game plan and trusting each other to get the job done."
Since the loss to Robert Morris, the Chippewas have won two-consecutive games, 21-14 at Kent State and 17-7 at Akron. CMU has not played since April 3.
"I'm not concerned about the layoff," Tisdale said. "I think you've seen a lot of teams have COVID issues recently and they come out better and stronger. And what I saw this week as a program (is us) come out better and stronger and we have not let time get away from us."
Robert Morris has won five-straight games since fall at Cincinnati, 16-7, on March 10. The Colonials defeated Akron, 18-4, last weekend.
