CMU Football to Face Michigan in 2025

It will be the fifth meeting between the Chippewas and Wolverines
Central Michigan Athletics announced today a football game at Michigan set for Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025.
This will be the fifth meeting between the two programs. The series began in 1931 with games in 2003, 2006 and 2013. All contests between the two programs have taken place in Ann Arbor, Mich.
"This is another great opportunity for our student-athletes to compete on a national stage at one of college football's top venues in the heart of our alumni footprint with over 160,000 alums in the surrounding area," Amy Folan, Zyzelewski Family Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics, said. Â
Ties between CMU and Michigan include hall of fame head coach Herb Deromedi who graduated from Michigan in 1960. Current CMU head coach Jim McElwain was also a member of the UM staff in 2018, where he coached wide receivers.
"I want to thank Coach Harbaugh and AD Warde Manuel for the opportunity to play in the Big House for a great in-state match-up," McElwain said.
In addition to the competition against Michigan, Central Michigan is scheduled to play a pair of Big Ten opponents in the coming years. CMU heads to Penn State for a matchup in 2022 and to Michigan State in 2023.
