ABCA Tabs Taylor Third Team All-America

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Andrew Taylor has been named All-America Third Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association, the organization announced Saturday.
Taylor, a freshman right-handed pitcher from Alto, Mich., led the Chippewas with an 11-4 record and a 1.81 earned run average. He is tied for fifth in the nation with five complete games, tied for sixth in wins, is eighth in ERA, and tied for 15th in strikeouts. His 11 victories rank as the third most in a single season by a Chippewa pitcher.
In 94 1/3 innings, Taylor posted a program-record 125 strikeouts while allowing 64 hits and walking 24. He surrendered just 19 earned run and recorded five complete games. Taylor is one of five starting pitchers named to the All-America Third Team.
Taylor, along with Toledo first baseman, Chris Meyers (Third Team) were the only representatives from the Mid-American Conference on the three All-America teams.
On Thursday, He was named to the Baseball America All-America Second Team.
Taylor has also been named by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association the national Freshman Pitcher of the Year and he earned a spot on the group's All-America First Team, Freshman All-America Team and was honored as its District 5 Player of the Year.
Last week, he was named the Co-National Freshman Pitcher of the Year by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and was also named to the publication's Freshman All-America Team. On June 3, Taylor was named to Collegiate Baseball's All-America Second Team.
Taylor was also named First Team All-MAC, the MAC Pitcher of the Year, and the MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year.
The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 13,000 members represent all 50 states and 25 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth.
