Women's Golf 11th After First Round Of Rio Verde Invitational

RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The Central Michigan women's golf team shot a 22-over 310 team score on Friday and stands in 11th place at the Rio Verde Invitational at Rio Verde Country Club.
The second round of the 18-team, 54-hole event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. (ET) on Saturday. The final round is set for Sunday (10:30 a.m. ET).
The Chippewas, who are ranked 140th nationally, trail first-place Kennesaw State by 24 shots. At No. 86, Kennesaw State is the highest-ranked team in the field. The Owls posted a 2-under 286 on Friday.
Xavier (291) is second and Missouri State (296) is third. The Chippewas are one shot behind 10th-place Ball State (309) and two back of ninth-place South Dakota (308).
Rachel Kauflin led CMU with a 2-over 74 and is among a group tied for 12th, while the Chippewas' Claudia Salvador is tied for 18th after a 3-over 75.
Kennesaw State's Bella Kil shot a 6-under 66 for a one-shot lead over teammate Caitlyn Campbell.
Also for the Chippewas, Casilda Allendesalazar shot 80, while Ashley Goh and Padgett Chitty both carded an 81 on the par 72, 6,001-yard White Wing course.
