Women's Golf 5th After Round 1 Of MAC Championship

HOLLAND, Ohio – Ashley Goh shot a 4-over par 76 and Zoe Vartyan carded a 5-over 77 to lead the Central Michigan women's golf team on Friday during the first round of the Mid-American Conference Championship at Stone Oak Country Club.
Goh is among a group tied for sixth place, seven shots off the lead. Vartyan is tied for 10th.
The Chippewas posted a 317 team score and stand in fifth place in the 10-team field. The Chippewas are one shot behind fourth-place Akron (316) and two behind third-place Toledo (315), the host school.
The second round of the 54-hole event is scheduled for Saturday morning with the final round on Sunday. The Chippewas are scheduled to tee off beginning at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday.
Also for CMU on Friday, Padgett Chitty shot 81, Casilda Allendesalazar shot 83, and Claudia Salvador shot 94. Chitty is among a group tied for 22nd in the 50-player field, while Allendesalazar is tied for 34th.
Kent State, which has won every MAC Championship since the tournament's inception in 1999, shot a 296 team total and leads the tournament by nine shots over Northern Illinois (305).
Jasmine Ly of Northern Illinois shot a 3-under 69 on Friday and holds a one-shot lead over Emily Price of Kent State.
