MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan women's golf head coach Jim Earle announced on Tuesday morning that he was stepping down after four seasons.
"With mixed emotions, I have decided to move on from my position as head coach of the CMU Women's Golf program," Earle said. "I am proud of the tremendous growth, and success, during my tenure. When I came to CMU in 2018, this was a program that was at the bottom of NCAA rankings, and now is nationally respected."
During Earle's tenure, his teams posted the program's first six NCAA Division I tournaments victories, and four student-athletes won tournaments; no CMU player had ever won a tournament before his arrival.
"I want to thank Coach Earle for his time and effort in raising our program the past few seasons," Amy Folan said, the Zyzelewski Family Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics. "We wish him the best in his future endeavors.
"We will have a national search to find an individual to continue to elevate our program and recruit high-caliber student-athletes. We have seen the potential of this program over the past season, and we know we have the support and resources to compete for championships in the future."
In the 2021-22- season, the team finished with a regular season record of 32-3-1 against all Mid-American Conference opponents faced. CMU also had individuals named the MAC Player of the Week 7 times during Earle's tenure.
The 17 lowest 18-, 36-, and 54-hole team scores in program history were recorded under Coach Earle's leadership.
The program was also successful in the classroom. In each of his four of years leading the program, the team recorded a combined cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better.
