Williams Named Women's Golf Head Coach

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Zyzelewski Family Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Amy Folan announced today the hiring of Ryan Williams as Central Michigan's women's golf coach.
"We have seen great growth in our women's golf program over the last couple of years and I am excited for the addition of Ryan to continue our upward climb," Folan said. "He has an impressive background in teaching and student-athlete development and understands how to develop a quality team environment. We have great support around our program to compete for tournament wins throughout the year and at the MAC conference meet."
Williams served as the head coach at Cleveland State during the 2021-22 season, leading the Vikings to one tournament victory, five top-three finishes, one top-five finish, and an overall head-to-head record of 78-29 for a .729 win percentage.
Two of Williams' student-athletes earned All-Horizon League honors as the Vikings placed third in the nine-team Horizon League Championships in April.
"I am very excited for the opportunity to lead the women's golf program at Central Michigan," Williams said. "The team has made impressive steps forward over the last few years and I can't wait to get started with this group.

Williams served as the men's and women's coach at Adrian from 2013-21, where he spearheaded the effort to build the program's indoor golf center. Williams began his coaching career at Clarkson as a volunteer assistant from 2011-13 while also serving as the assistant dean of undergraduate admissions.
Williams earned a bachelor of arts degree with a major in financial economics from Rochester where he was a two-time Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon Scholar All-American, a two-year team captain, twice earned First Team All-Liberty League honors, and twice was named to the All-University Athletic Association First Team.
In 2008, he was named the UAA Player of the Year and the UAA Rookie of the Year.
