CMU Men Continue Play At Folds Of Honor

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – The Central Michigan men's golf team shot 315 on Tuesday and stands in 13th place after two rounds of the inaugural Fields of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Club.
The third and final round of the 54-hole, 18-team event is set for Wednesday on the Jack Nicklaus-designed course on the Lake Michigan shore. American Dunes is playing to par 72 over 7,128 yards.
Philippe Yturralde shot his second 3-over 75 in as many days to lead the Chippewas on Tuesday. Yturralde is among a group tied for 34th place at 6-over. The field comprises 90 players.
Also for CMU on Tuesday, Jeffrey Andrus posted a 4-over 76; Ethan Jaehn shot 78; Orlando Coons carded an 86; and Nicholas Kilgore shot 88.
Andrus, who opened on Monday with a 76, stands at 8-over and is among a group tied for 40th; Jaehn is at 11-over and tied for 56th. Jaehn shot 77 in Monday's opening round.
All five of the Chippewas playing in the tournament are freshmen.
Illinois, which is ranked eighth nationally, posted an 11-under 277 on Tuesday to move into first place with a 36-hole 569 total. The Illini lead 14th-ranked Florida State by 11 shots. The Seminoles shot 293 on Tuesday and stand at 580.
No. 32 Arizona and No. 70 Liberty are tied for third at 583. Eight of the 18 teams in the tournament are ranked in the top 100 nationally by Golfweek.
CMU opened with a 311 on Monday and stands at 626.
Brett Roberts of Florida State and Jonathan Yaun of Liberty are tied for first place at 6-under. Roberts shot a 4-under 68 on Tuesday, while Yaun carded a 3-under 69. The duo holds a two-shot lead over Illinois' Adrien Dumont de Chassart.
