CMU junior goalkeeper Katie Maxim made 12 saves in three quarters. Freshman Maja Halasz made four saves in the first 15 minutes.
CMU (1-3) attempted one shot to Michigan's 39, 25 of which were on goal. Abby Tamer had three goals to lead the Wolverines (2-1).
The Chippewas are scheduled to play Bucknell on Friday, Sept. 9 (4 p.m.) in a nonleague game at the Bison's Graham Field. CMU then is scheduled to play at Lock Haven on Sunday, Sept. 11.
