Jack Skoog Open and Chippewa Open on the docket for CMU home meets
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Highlighted by its first outdoor meet hosted in a decade and the indoor Jack Skoog Open, Central Michigan Track and Field announced a 20-meet 2023-24 schedule between both indoor and outdoor track and field on Wednesday.
During the indoor season, CMU will compete in a pair of meets each at Saginaw Valley, Boston University and Grand Valley State, starting the slate on Dec. 1 at the Saginaw Valley Holiday Open before competing in Boston's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Dec. 2.
Three indoor meets hosted by Michigan and Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational are also on the docket for the Chippewas.
CMU will host the Jack Skoog Open on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Jack Skoog Indoor Track.
Eastern Michigan is set to host the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24, 2024 in Ypsilanti, Mich. to conclude the indoor track and field season.
Meets with Indiana, Tennessee, Michigan State, Virginia and Ohio State highlight the nine-meet 2024 outdoor schedule as the Chippewas kick off competition on March 28 at NC State's Raleigh Relays.
For the first time in 10 years, CMU will host the Chippewa Open at the Lyle Bennett Outdoor Track on April 12. The Lyle Bennett Outdoor Track, last used for competition in 2013, was renovated in Summer 2023.
The Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Northern Illinois, will fall on May 9, 10 and 11, 2024. The NCAA Preliminary Round will be from May 22-25, 2024, hosted by Kentucky.
The 2024 NCAA Championships will be hosted by the University of Oregon on June 5-8, 2024.
