CMU Football signs 17 student-athletes to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday; Seven members of the Class of 2024 will enroll at CMU for the spring semester; Signing period runs through Friday.

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Central Michigan Head Football Coach Jim McElwain announced his 17-member 2024 signing class on Wednesday afternoon. The class includes 15 student-athletes who will enroll at Central Michigan as freshmen, two players signed as transfers, while eight different states are represented.

"We are extremely pleased with this class," McElwain said. "Though a bit smaller than some of our other classes, we addressed our needs. This class is a direct result of all the hard work by our coaching staff, along with all of the people that really care here at Central Michigan. As always, we tried to focus on the state of Michigan and the surrounding areas, and that effort is reflected in who we signed. We are looking forward to welcoming these players to campus and acclimating them to our school and football program. Seven of these signees are planning to enroll at CMU next semester and before spring practice."

Wednesday, December 20 marked National Signing Day for NCAA Division I FBS football programs. A complete signees roster is posted at this link. The football signing period runs through Friday, but transfers have several periods to sign.

Central Michigan's 2024 signing class consists of 10 All-State honorees, seven student-athletes who guided their high school teams to either a state title or state finals appearance, 13 who led their teams to a state playoff appearance, 13 multi-sport athletes, 16 players who earned all-conference and all-district honors, and five four-year high school football lettermen.

On offense, CMU added two quarterbacks, one running back, three wide receivers, two tight ends, and one offensive lineman. On defense, CMU added three defensive linemen, two linebackers, and three defensive backs.

The majority of the 17-member class are Michigan natives as seven hail from the Great Lakes State. Overall, Central Michigan's Class of 2024 is comprised of student-athletes from eight different states, including four players from Florida, and one each from California, Ohio, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ontario, Canada.

Central Michigan is expected to begin spring football practice in March.
