CMU Wrestlers Seeded 20th, 29th for NCAA Championships

Johnny Lovett (149 pounds), Alex Cramer (174) both seeded 20th; Corbyn Munson (157) seeded 29th
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan received two No. 20 seeds and a No. 29 for the NCAA Wrestling Championships next week in Tulsa, Okla.
The NCAA released the 10 weight-class brackets, each comprising 33 wrestlers, on Wednesday night.
CMU's Johnny Lovett (149 pounds) and Alex Cramer (174) are seeded 20th in their respective weight classes; the Chippewas' Corbyn Munson (157) is 29th.
• Lovett, who is 19-9 on the season and coming off a Mid-American Conference championship, will face No. 13 Shayne Van Ness of Penn State (19-6).
The winner will then take on either No. 29 Alec Hagan (20-14) of Ohio or No. 4 Caleb Henson (21-3) of Virginia Tech.
• Cramer (30-8), who also won a MAC title last weekend, will open at the NCAA Championships against No. 13 Cade DeVos (25-7) of South Dakota State.
The winner will face either No. 29 Cael Valencia (12-10) of Arizona State or No. 4 Chris Foca (24-1) of Cornell.
• Munson (26-12), who placed fifth at the MAC Championships and then won a true-fourth match over Michael Petite of Buffalo to earn a bid to the NCAA Championships, is set to take on No. 4 Jared Franek (22-1) of North Dakota State in his opening bout.
The winner will face either No. 13 Trevor Chumbley (24-7) of Northwestern or No. 20 Cael Swensen (21-8) of South Dakota State.
The tournament is scheduled for March 16-18 at BOK Center in Tulsa.
It marks the third consecutive year that Lovett has qualified for the national championship. Munson qualified in 2022, while Cramer qualified in 2021 but did not compete because of an injury. He sat out the 2021-22 season with an injury.
