Baseball Pounds Out 2 Homers, 15 Hits in Rolling to 8th Straight Win

It was CMU's eighth consecutive win and 12th in its last 13 games as it improved to 25-13, 12-5 MAC. Akron is 14-24, 6-14.
The Chippewas will go for their second straight MAC series sweep when the teams play the series finale on Sunday (1 p.m.).
Brill, a junior transfer from Des Moines CC, hit his first home run as a Chippewa, a two-run shot, in the second inning to give CMU a 2-1 lead.
Wuestenfeld hit a three-run blast to highlight the Chippewas' five-run ninth. It was his fourth homer of the season and second since returning from an injury seven games ago. He drove in a team-high four runs on the day.
CMU scored eight runs on five hits in the third inning in seizing a 10-1 lead.
Chippewa starter Adam Mrakitsch (6-2) allowed one run – a homer by the Akron leadoff man in the first inning – on two hits, walked four, and struck out five over six innings for the victory.
Michael Conte and Ryan Palmblad pitched in relief.
Luke Sefcik had four hits and drove in three runs to lead CMU's 15-hit attack. Drew Stengren, Brill and Marquis Jackson added two hits each.
It marked the third time in the last five games that Brill has collected multiple hits. He is hitting .466 (seven for 15) with six RBI over that span.
The 15 hits tied for the Chippewas' second highest total of the season, and, after going homerless in Friday's 5-3 series-opening win, they have homered in nine of their last 10 games.
