Lacrosse Takes First MAC Loss

Chippewas fall into a three-way first-place tie with Kent State and Robert Morris with two regular season games remaining.
KENT, Ohio – Kent State scored two goals in the final 4:15 and handed the Central Michigan Lacrosse team a 17-15 loss in a Mid-American Conference contest.
It marked the Chippewas' first MAC loss, and it ended their win streak at five games. CMU drops to 7-7 overall and 5-1 in the MAC, and is now tied for first place with the Golden Flashes and Robert Morris.
CMU entertains Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, April 26, and then travels to Robert Morris for its regular season finale on Saturday, April 29.
Maggie Diebold scored five goals and Sadie Hinkle finished with four goals and an assist to lead the Chippewas, who finished with 26 shots on goal to the Golden Flashes' 20. Kendall Hoyt added three goals and Regan Martinson had one for the Chippewas.
CMU goalkeeper Alexa Martel made three saves.
The Chippewas fell into a 5-1 deficit late in the first quarter, but then scored five of the next six goals to tie the game at 6-6.
From there, it was a see-saw battle in which neither team led by more than two goals. Hinkle scored with 6:32 left to cut CMU's deficit to 15-14, and then Hoyt scored 22 seconds later to tie it.
Kent State's Allie Lee broke the deadlock with a goal with 4:15 remaining, and then Jackie Wolford added an insurance goal, her game-high sixth goal of the game, with just over a minute remaining.
