Day One: 117 Chippewas complete practice No. 1 of fall training camp on Tuesday afternoon.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—The Central Michigan Football program opened its fall 2023 training camp with a two-hour practice session Tuesday afternoon under sunny skies at the Indoor Athletic Complex and grass field adjacent to Kramer/Deromedi Field at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
All 117 Chippewa football players wearing helmets and shoulder pads went through an intense and spirited workout. CMU started practice inside its Indoor Practice Facility then proceeded to the grass field on the east side of Kelly/Shorts Stadium. The Chippewas went through individual position drills, open field blocking drills, and stretching. The team went to 7-on-7 offense vs. defense drills, wide receivers vs. defensive backs and offensive line vs. defensive line, then back to more position drills. CMU also worked on special teams.
Tuesday's first practice marks the first of 20 training camp sessions between Tuesday, August 1 and Saturday, August 26.
